Eels Swim Team 2012 Practice Schedule

Practice is an important part of participating on the Eels swim team. If we don't practice we will not be able to succeed. The more we practice the more we will be victorious. Hard work and continuous practice are the keys to success and without them success is just to be forgotten. Consistent effort in practice, results in improved performance, stamina, and confidence for each swimmer. Please try to make as many practices as you are able. Success starts at being at practice!

After school practices begin Tuesday, May 1st, Monday through Thursday.

5:30 to 6:15     White Team

Tentative: Monday evenings in June 5:30-7:00p will be open to make-up practice, make-up time trials, private lessons & stroke clinics.  We will announce more information on this on the website.

All swimmers should be at practice on the Thursdays before Saturday meets. If your swimmer will be at the meet but is unable to attend the practice immediately preceding the meet, please let us know as soon as possible. Communication with the coaches ahead of time is crucial!
If we don’t hear from you we will assume you will participate in the meet and will be added to the meet roster.

Practices – Parent Information
Success begins at practice! Attendance is important to performance and team spirit.
Swimmers should show with swimsuit on, show up on time and be ready to stretch before getting in the pool.
Check Eels box daily to make sure you are aware of upcoming announcements, changes, etc.
Everyone should do their part to keep the area clean and to abide by the pool rules.
Coaches will be focusing on swimmers during practice times, and are not on deck to supervise children before or after their practice times, nor can they supervise children that are not in the pool or immediate area.
The baby pool is off limits during swim practice. Please do not allow your child to use the baby pool during swim practice.
Questions for the coaches should be held for outside of practice times.
We encourage parents to stay during practice, especially parents of swimmers 10yrs or younger. If you bring your swimmer’s siblings, please supervise them to ensure their safety and to make sure they do not disrupt practice or distract swimmers.
Glass containers and Pets are not allowed in the pool area.

The Eels swim team competes in the Lone Star Summer Swim League. We will swim 4 dual meets (2 home and 2 away) according to the following schedule.

Day/Date                    Visitor                         Home
Saturday, June 2          CHF                              Summerfield
Saturday, June 9          Rogers Ranch              CHF
Saturday, June 16        CHF                              Inwood Hollow

Sunday, July 1              Division D Championship meet          Josh Davis Natatorium

We will attempt to publish and e-mail helpful information about each particular meet and venue within a day or two of the meet.
The dual meets usually last about 3½ to 4 hours. We encourage you to bring chairs, a blanket, & towels for you and your swimmer. Each venue will have concessions where you should be able to purchase water, sports drinks, food and snacks. Come prepared with cash for the concession. Feel free to bring your own water to help yourself and your swimmers remain hydrated.
Other helpful things to be prepared for swim meets:

  • Make sure your swimmer is well rested and well hydrated prior to the meet; lots of water the day before and day of the meet. Early to bed night before a swim meet.
  • Swimmers should arrive ready to swim when scheduled for check-in, stretching, and warm-ups. Look for the check-in site before you enter the pool area at each meet.
  • Swimmers should stay in the designated team area with their age group for the entire event. We need to find swimmers quickly when lining up for events.
  • Swimmers should notify the coaches if needing to leave before the meet concludes, even if they are not scheduled for more events. This is important when the coaches are trying to cover other absences and are counting on a swimmer to substitute.
  • ALWAYS keep the team area clean and throw away trash. We should all do our best to keep the area clean and to abide by the pool rules.
  • Glass containers and Pets are not allowed in the pool area.
